Tired
Well, I think it is safe to admit that I suck at keeping things updated. Ugh. *sigh*
So, a brief summary of all things going on at the casa in the last month or so:
- We bought a new house in Menomonee Falls. Once we are all moved in and unpacked, there will be some sort of “welcome to our new house†party. Of course, at the rate we are going, it probably won’t happen until October. And that’s being optimistic.
- A friend of ours is buying our old house. Because he was undecided earlier, we did the move in two parts – so most of our packable stuff is at the new house, while we are living at the old house for now. This coming weekend we are hoping to move all the furniture, and start living at the new place.
- This Sunday, BelovedSpouse power-washed the siding on the old casa. I planted flowers by the front door and in the flower pots on Saturday. Last Saturday, BelovedSpouse’s co-worker’s husband, a plumber, installed a new sink and faucet in the kitchen, and a new faucet in the bathroom. We bought new blinds for the bedrooms, and a new bath tub door. We need to install new wide downspouts, currently hanging out in our garage. Once we are all moved out, I will touch up the walls and we will have new carpet put in. In the next few days, I will order more mulch for the yard and some pieces of siding to replace the warped ones in the back. BelovedSpouse will stain the warn-out spots on kitchen cabinets. I will wash the windows, inside and out. We will do other minor maintenance things, and then say goodbye to the old house. I hope to close on the sale by the end of August.
- It is sad, a chapter of our lives coming to an end. We had some good times in this house, and some bad times. This is where we almost decided to get a divorce, more than once. This is where I found out I was pregnant. This is where we brought DemonChild after he was born. This has been our home for the last five years, and in another month, it won’t be.
- I am going to Russia in September. Before I start booking tickets, I need to locate my passport and see if it has expired. If it did, I will need to go to Seattle to renew it (unless the Russian Consulate there decided to let people mail there paperwork in — last time I had to renew my passport, we had to go to Seattle in person to pick it up). I also need to find out if DemonChild needs a passport. And we need to figure out whether or not BelovedSpouse will go with us. All things that need to be settled very soon.
- Things are very busy at work. I am behind on just about everything, and that is stressing me out. Staying late is not an option, because I pick DemonChild up from daycare. Leaving early does not work either, because I breastfeed the little guy before BelovedSpouse takes him to daycare in the morning. Working from home would work if I actually had any free time while I am home. OK, I am going to stop whining now.
- And on the subject of work, Erin and I went to the Web Development conference in Salisbury, Maryland a few weeks ago, and had a great time. There is another conference in Rochester, New York, in November, and hopefully we will be able to go there, too.
- On Tuesday we are going to visit a daycare in Menomonee Falls. I heard great things about it. If we like it, DemonChild will start there September 1st. It will be very sad to leave our current daycare, little guy seems to like it there, and the staff likes him, but is half an hour away from our new house, and I will be the one taking him there and picking him up, which is not going to help with being overwhelmed at work (see above).
- I think that’s about it for the brief summary of our lives. Time to go sneak into the shower while the little guy and the big guy are both sleeping. I have been up since 3:30 am – DemonChild woke up to feed, then did not want to go back to bed. And then I had to wash bottles and pumping paraphernalia, since I did not do it last night, because DemonChild was having trouble falling asleep (after being a very good little guy all day – figures, right?). So far, I seem to be doing OK on 4 hours of sleep. From past experience, I know that won’t last long…
- Next post is going to be about DemonChild. Hopefully I will be able to get a start on it after my shower, though the way things have been going, I am not holding my breath.
