Wow. December has sneaked up on me. Here’s hoping that by the end of the year we will unpack and organize at least 50% of our boxes. I am not holding my breath.
So, we got an offer on our house. $175,000. Did not dignify it with a counter. Was tempted to sign the rejection “Ha Ha Ha. NO.†but restrained myself.
The painting and contact-papering of kitchen cabinets has been accomplished, by dint of staying up until 2:30 am three days in a row. Before. After. The wall color is actually yellowish (or “ivoire,†according to the paint can), but I am too inept in the ways of my Nikon D70 to actually stop it from using flash when I don’t want it to.
I had my evaluation appointment for LASIK (otherwise known as, “ugh, I have $5,000 in my FlexBen account I need to spendâ€). Turns out my corneas are on the thin side, so it will be PRK instead. Figures. If there is a hard way to do something, odds are that’s how I will have to do it. Surgery is scheduled for December 13. I hope by the time my parents get here on the 18th, I will be doing OK. Then in February 2006 I am finally going to get an implant to replace a lost tooth (the original reason for setting aside $5,000) . Yeah, I am high-maintenance…
It snowed for the first time on Friday. Of course, we spent most of the day on the road. Poor BelovedSpouse got lots of exp in his driving skill (his words, not mine). I read “The Last Light of the Sun†by Guy Gavriel Kay to him. We made good progress on the book.
I like the views we get from our windows in the new house. There is a little squirrel we see around a lot. Birds perch on tree branches and mock my lack of l33t photographer powers (mental note to self: need to figure out how to take pictures though glass). On Saturday, I saw a red fox run across our back yard.
Ugh. Almost 1 am. I have an 8:30 meeting, and sleep deprivation is not going to help things at work. Yay. Sometime soon, DemonChild will wake up and cry, and we’ll take the opportunity to give him an amoxicillin shake. And if I go to bed now, I might actually get some sleep before that happens.
Such an exciting post. Sorry.
