When I said it would be a good idea for all of us to fly to San Diego, somebody should have hit me on the head until I regained sanity

So, we are off to San Diego on Thursday. Going to be an interesting trip… The mind boggles at the thought of all the luggage we’ll have: double stroller, two car seats, diaper bag, carry-on for Bill and myself, parents suitcase, and likely two suitcases for kids (toys and clothes). And I am probably missing a suitcase or two from the equation ;-)

Then there are logistics of getting to the airport. Our flight leaves at 12:40. Southwest Airlines recommends getting to Midway 1.5 hrs before the flight leaves. It will take us around 2.5 hrs to get there. Which means we’ll have to leave at 8:30. Good things Bill and I are picking up the minivan at 7:30, huh? I am sure the convenience of a non-stop flight will be more than worth it, but right now I am ready to tear what little hair I have left out.

Oh, and right now the weather forecast for San Diego is rain, rain, rain, every day Bill and I will be there. Figures, right?

And now to make this post marginally useful: for those of you parents with small children – FAA now allows you to use a CARES safety harness if your child weights between 22 and 44 lbs. Alas, the harness is $75 plus shipping, and is currently not certified for use in the European Union, which likely means I would not be able to use it on a flight to Europe. So, at least for now, I will wait on buying one, unless some of you would like to go in on a “shared CARES” plan with me :-)

Good luck with the trip. I’d have to talk to the hubby first, but we might go in on a harness with you. If we could find a 3rd person, it would be really affordable. Too bad you didn’t find this out sooner.
