Books books books

  1. Falls public library late book fine is a ridiculously low 10 cents per day.
  2. Ordered “Under Heaven” by Guy Gavriel Kay from Amazon. Can’t wait to read it!
  3. Since an order of $25 or more qualifies for free shipping, also ordered “Archangel’s Kiss” by Nalini Singh and “Mark of the Demon” by Diana Rowland. Hmmm, just noticed that there is a definite theme in the titles :-)
  4. My copy of “The Dead Travel Fast” by Deanna Rayburn finally arrived. An homage to gothic romances. Now to find time and write a review on LibraryThing.
  5. Finished “Legacy” by Lois McMaster Bujold, next on the list – “Passage.” Am enjoying The Sharing Knife series so far.
  6. Finally got around to read some more P.D.James (she of the “Children of Men” fame) – read “Unnatural Causes,” “An Unsuitable Job for a Woman,” and “The Black Tower” (yay for omnibus editions). Enjoyed them, but not to the point of wanting to buy my own copies.
  7. Re-reading Sharon Shinn’s “Archangel” and “Angelica.”
  8. I am so glad I can lose myself in a good book.
  9. Libraries. With LOTS and LOTS of books. I just wish they carried more of the authors I enjoy.
  10. When I go to Russia, I am going to buy “Night Watch,” “Day Watch,” “Twilight Watch,” and “Last Watch” in their original Russian. Parental units will likely not be amused, but they should be resigned to my reading tastes by now.

    Books

    1. The existence of books.

    2. The existence of books in a language I can read (which would mean English, unless we’re talking “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” or something along those lines).

    3. Having time to read books on occasion.

    4. Books that make me laugh.

    5. Books that make me cry.

    6. Especially books that make me both laugh and cry.

    7. Books that inspire me to write.

    8. Blank books (I’m a stationery nerd, and proud of it!)

    9. Especially blank books with fun covers, like Chinese silk.

    10. I’m going back to my own books in a couple months, and won’t have to rely on the few I’ve brought with me.
