Grace in Small Things – 1xx/365 (5/10 & 5/11)
- May 9th, Victory Day. It’s been 65 years since the war ended. Thinking of grandpa, who was a navy pilot during World War II.
- OldestOne is feeling better.
- Mel, who comes over and plays with the kids and teaches them things.
- YoungestOne’s affection for stuffed animals.
- Funny stuff MiddleOne says. (“Mommy, are you driving now?” “Well, since I am standing right here in front of you with a garbage bag in my hand, no, I am not.”)
- Unexpected chocolate muffin from Matt’s wife.
- Feeling slightly better today, though still really out of it.
- Missing lunch, and then finding out that there is a reception with hors d’oeuvres and desserts at work that day.
- Sleeping kids.
- Going to bed early with a book.

1. A couple of our friends just had a baby boy!
2. It’s been 9 years since we were robbed at the bank. No one was hurt, I did what I was supposed to, and they eventually caught the guy.
3. There aren’t too many flies in the classrooms yet (no thanks to students who have not grasped the purpose of screens).
4. I slept until 5 this morning, instead of waking up in the middle of the night and not going back to sleep for several hours.
5. When I divided my class into a neighborhood, they eventually grasped that they weren’t supposed to sit in the rows designated Second Street and Third Street.
6. And they grasped the concept of “across from” better than any of my previous classes.
7. They didn’t do too badly with “on the corner of” either.
8. My sister sent cute pictures of my nieces.
9. It’s warm enough to wear sandals
10. … which means I don’t have to wear socks.
1. Wonderful steak dinner out last night with Eric, in spite of the fact he had to work until 7pm
2. Parents who baby-sit.
3. Two of four walls in Jenna’s room are painted
4. After five tries, we finally got a good file from the other company we’re working with
5. Mom and Dad are staying Sunday night so that Eric and I can go see Iron Man 2, since we didn’t get to go last night because Eric had to work late
6. Qdoba (not good for my diet, but it sure tastes good!)
7. Alex is super excited to see Grandma and Grandpa
8. Beth is starting to warm up to Grandma (not sure about Grandpa yet)
9. Finally got Beth’s clothes put away so I can start dressing her in matching outfits again
10. Alex didn’t come into our room in the middle of the night last night
