Last day of freedom :-)

Published by at 1:28 am under The Daily Grind

If all goes well, tomorrow evening I will be picking Bill up in Chicago. To celebrate my last day of being on my own, I

  1. Mowed the lawn. It’s been dry most of the week, so the grass hasn’t exactly achieved new and exciting heights. Was not so much mowing as walking back and forth and wondering if I already did that spot before. The brush-filled trailer is in the side parking spot now, courtesy of neighbor Ron.
  2. Talked to my family for three hours.
  3. Annoyed a lot of spiders by destroying their webs in the great room, kitchen, and laundry room.
  4. Took down and washed the great room’s curtains. Strongly suspect that they will need to be ironed tomorrow.
  5. Gave one last cleaning to the great room windows, and put back the screens.
  6. Went to Pick’n'Save and stocked up on dry goods, plus picked up more Diet Coke. Got a new Pick’n'Save card too. Apparently, it comes with fuel perks. Realized that Pick’n'Save and Copps are owned by the same company. No longer have to feel bad about all the deals Erica finds at Copps, since I should be getting very similar ones at Pick’n'Save.
  7. Made another attempt at washing the windows on the Jetta. No matter what I do, they seem filmy. As long as I was at it, sprayed more WD40 on the squeaking passenger door. It still squeaks, but in a slightly quieter tone of voice.
  8. Cleaned the upstairs guest/kids bathroom. Got ambitious and put down some liner inside the drawers. Then got even more ambitious and cleaned the kids’ step stools, as long as I was in the area.
  9. Cleaned the master bathroom (always the dirtiest and the dustiest). Made note to self that it is festooned with spider webs. Must remember to piss off more spiders tomorrow.

And this brings us to 2 am. Considering I need to get up at 7 am, I am feeling slightly doomed :P

Sounds like you got a lot done while hubby and kids were gone. Hope you and Bill can enjoy your kid-free time together as well when he gets back! Best of luck w/ the new job this week!!

I mentioned a long time ago, and should probably re-iterate that Copps, Pick n’ Save & Rainbow are all Roundy’s stores and have basically the same sales. However, the southeast WI sale ads run one week behind the MN and northern WI sales. So, when you see me post the deal lists, you should find the same deals in your ad the following week. Hope that helps!!

Yes, I caught that Pick and Save and Copps are both Roundy’s a while back. Found out that Woodman’s is still better: Fiber One bars: 3.49 at Pick and Save, 2.19 at Woodman’s. Even coupons don’t help. When your Woodman’s opens, you should definitely check it out. Except for produce, stick to Pick N Save.

    Accomplishments for Sat:
    1. Bought materials for and replaced our plastic temporary fence that someone fell over (probably in the middle of the night Thursday night). Found it when I got home on Friday. It was hot out there!

    2. Did 15 Logic problems (started to not feel well and spent the rest of the day not doing much)

Thank you for the heads-up, Erica! Good to know ;-)

Shannon, we are looking forward to Woodman’s opening in November!

I hope everybody is feeling better soon!

Shannon makes a good point. The key to saving at the stores (and knowing what to buy where) is knowing your prices. i.e. Woodman’s has the best reg. price for Fiber One bars, but if PnS has a sale on them and you can match it w/ coupons, you might get a better price there. It’s all part of the game. :-) One way to figure all this out is to start a price book. Jot down regular and sale prices for items you regularly buy at various stores so you know who has the best price and when a sale will get you a better deal somewhere else.

BTW, Fiber One bars are on sale for 1.99 at Copps this week, so should be at PnS next week. :-)
